Xanthorrhoeas (Grass Trees) from Stalk to Seed

The process of growing a stalk, flowering, polination, seeding, and throwing seeds can take anywhere from 4 - 6 months. Some stages take a bit longer than others.

From our observation many insects are responsible for polination including bees and butterflies, and potentially ants as well. We definitely noticed a lot more seeds in the presence of more butterflies and bees. In the past some stalks would grow but not flower and just turn brown without seeding. This year has been a lot different.

Below is a visual gallery of the sequential events of throwing a stalk up to throwing seeds.
